2024 Art Installation - Hoi An, Vietnam
Days of Silky Blue
DAYS OF SILKY BLUE is an interactive artwork featuring a changing installation of indigo dyed silk handmade by the artist Pham Ngoc Tram - in conversation with the lush garden of The Inner Hoi An by Ala.
Tram comes to the cafe and puts more artistic touches on it during the exhibition. The installation transfers Tram’s feelings toward the space, which has been her “eightfold fence” refuge and the feelings are interpreted into the sensations of silk: soft, gentle and delicate but with a strong sense of free flow. DAYS OF SILKY BLUE kick-starts Tram’s new phase of art practicing with more residency and exhibitions to come - after a long period of focusing on research. For this installation, Tram plays happily with materials that are closest to her heart and artistic instinct: silk, sunlight and greenery.
“I love the exterior setting of Inner where I find peace and tranquility. Blue indigo silk flying in the sunlight also brings me such feelings. During the heat of summer, I just wish to share those pleasant feelings to others and somehow create a strange yet beautiful scene in the familiar place where I come everyday” - Pham Ngoc Tram
