“An old friend had commissioned an embroidered pillowcase to celebrate the birth of her first child.
Having known her since we were kids, I had collected photos of her childhood: how her grandparents loved spending time in the living room, her grandmother sweeping flowers in the front yard, her mother playing the piano, family meals during Tet holiday, and friends gathering for tea on winter streets. Stories from her loved ones, woven together with her nostalgic memories and our shared childhood, came to life in beautifully embroidered images.
As she had moved away from our hometown, this embroidery artwork has become a token of how happily she grew up and a meaningful gift for her child. Through the gentle language of hand embroidery, I contributed to a mother’s love, carrying on to the next generation.”
